Enabling or Empowering

When is helping empowering and when is it enabling?

When you extend your hand and offer help do you ask yourself if your helping is enabling or empowering? Sometimes it is hard to tell. In our desire to help our kids and young adults get where they need to go or be where they need to be,  sometimes we extend too much assistance. It makes us uncomfortable if our young person or child struggles so there are times we help too much.

I had the great blessing of being on Cynthia L. Simmons radio show and podcast where we discussed this very thing. We also had time to talk a bit about Thanksgiving and thankfulness at home.

If you want to know the difference between truly empowering  our kids or enabling them, listen in as Cynthia and I unpack this and we also offer some tips on having a Thankful Thanksgiving.
